Dog Vaccinations

Our preferred vaccination for dogs is the C5. This helps to protect against Parvovirus, Distemper, Infectious Hepatitis, Bordetella and Parainfluenza. While puppies should be vaccinated three times from 6 weeks of age, then given an annual booster 12 months after their last puppy vaccination, for adult dogs we use a vaccine that is registered to be given as little as once every 3 years for Parvovirus, Distemper and Hepatitis.

However, the Bordatella and Parainfluenza portion of the vaccine still needs to be given annually, providing an opportunity for an annual health check for your dog. For at risk dogs, we also offer the C2i vaccine, which helps protect against Canine Coronavirus and Leptospirosis.

Cat vaccinations

We recommend the F3 vaccination for cats. This helps to protect against Herpes virus, Calicivirus and Panleukopenia. It is recommended that once your kitten has received its appropriate kitten vaccinations (3 vaccinations, given 4 weeks apart from 8 weeks of age), it receives a booster vaccination annually, also providing an opportunity for an annual health check. We also offer and recommend FIV vaccination for cats spending time outdoors; this important vaccine helps protect against Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, which is spread by cats fighting, and can be devastating for you and your furry friend.

Microchipping

It is a legal requirement of pet ownership in NSW that all cats and dogs be microchipped by 12 weeks of age (younger if sold).  The microchip is approximately the size of a grain of rice and is inserted under the skin over the shoulder blades.  It is an important step to ensure that if your pet becomes lost, whoever finds them can identify them and help get them back to you!
